What you get

Reading sold prices sensibly
A single postcode covers a handful of streets, so a few sales can move the median a lot. Compare the same property type, look at several years, and check neighbouring postcodes too.
Sales appear once they're registered with HM Land Registry, usually a few weeks to a few months after completion, so the most recent months fill in over time.

Where does the data come from?
HM Land Registry Price Paid Data, published under the Open Government Licence. It covers residential sales in England and Wales since 1995.
Does it cover Scotland or Northern Ireland?
No. Their sales are recorded by different registers, which this tool doesn't read.
Why is there no house number?
A house number with a price and date identifies the people who own that home, so answers stop at street level. That's enough to understand prices in an area.
How much does it cost?
